at idle it's readin 3000-3500 RPM. any ideas?Also, mpg figures. i only got the car a few days ago so i am still workin my way round it and gettin used to it. I put a fiver in and ive done 18 mile and it's as good as empty. is this about right or not? not been dinging it!

Not sure why you're rev counter is throwing a fit lol, but i do know 18 miles to a fiver is harsh, I was getting 100 miles to ?10 just before the fuel went up, not sure what it is now.

Is the car actually revving that much or is the rev counter just reading that much?

If it's revving that much that'll go toward explaining the lack of mpg. Clean your Idle Speed Control Valve, try a change of plugs and leads, basically just give the car a good servicing and then see what the craic is.

If its just reading that much but not revving that high, then check all the connections behind the clocks.

its tickin over fine and its runnin great. probably just give it a service. I've read on this site that people are only gettin about 40 mile per ?10 ???

I done 120 to ?20 I think, roughly, with a bit of nailing it. Sounds like you just need a good service on yours, and see how it runs after it all. 1.6 or 1.4?

And how did you hear about our site?

mines a 1.6 and don't i know it, after having a 1000cc mini and a 1.1 mk3 fezzer. i heard about the site from fast ford mag. i live in swansea s. wales.
