which other model fiestas exhaust systems fit onto a 16v si with no modification?

as far as i no any mk3 fiesta zetec exhaust will fit that has a cat, iv got an xr2i 1.8 exhaust on mine and im pretty sure the rs1800 exhaust is the same aswell

im not sure its the cat, im getting loads of black soot coming out when i start up and reved at idle, the bumper on my rs is covered (its parked behind)!!

the car was sitting idle for about a year so is probably very carbon'ed up, well i hope its that and not the cat

not really, well not while driving, its got a slightly rough idle, but i dont think the exhaust is helping much.

im going to give the MAF hot wires a clean as well see if that helps smooth it out at all

just thought i would bump this post with a bit of an update

my logbook finally came through on saturday so ive had the car on the road since then, clocked up about 80 miles and given it a good run to try and clear out the exhaust

but it doesnt seem to have worked, when driving at under 2.5k the car is fine, but after that it massively hesitates and chucks out loads of smoke!!

any ideas? cat shafted? ive won a decat pipe of ebay so will chuck that on when i get it, anything else i need to check over?

still sounds like fuel mixture, may be an idea to take a plug out after its been running bad and see if its black and sooty, if so start with air filter and inlet, MAF, and lambda sensor, other items like air and water temperature sensors effect mixture but wouldnt think enough to be that bad. also if you take the Lambda sensor out it may be contaminated with soot as well.

ive already changed the plugs, leads, air filter, fuel filter and cleaned the maf

ill grab a bottle of carb cleaner and give everything a good going over then

would the mixture make it hesitate that much? it really holds back, revs dont move at all, but if you keep your foot planted, it hicups and takes off leaving a trail of smoke behind

if the fueling is going nuts then it will make is very like your symptoms, ive had it before on my zetecs.

zetec engines are very fussy. even an incorrect plug gap can make it run weird!

It should still run fine with a dodgy fuel mixture. My Air:Fuel ratio is like a zigzag on my rolling road graph but drives fine

also the smoke is definately oil based as i checked the levels last night and they have dropped alot since the weekend!

oh and the temp guage decided last night to be very intermittent, the fan is still kicking in where its meant to but after a enthusiastic drive last night the tank was slightly boiling up

no mayo anywhere so im thinking the headgasket may be at fault now?!?

seeing as i wont be driving it much over christmas and the new year i think ill just clean everything up with carb cleaner (iscv etc) change the oil etc and take it easy, then 2L it, as what with the cost of a new headgasket and belt kit i may as well buy a running mondeo thats had a rear ender and swap it all over
