any chance we can get a few guides on here, like im curious on stripping my engine dow and giving it a good clean but to be honest isnt something i have every tried before and so i am looking for some guides on it. cheers.

every now and again my car will rev for no reason, so just want to check the seals are still intacted and that a proper vacuum is there.

You dont need to take the head off tho...

I take it that its a zetec?

If so...

Easy things first...

Clean ISCV, Clean MAF, could be an air leak of some sort.. check the pipes that go into the back of the inlet manifold, check the pipe from the front breather that connects under the coilpack on the right side of the engine, inlet manifold or throttle body gasket could have shat itself

Reset the ecu by leaving the battery off the car... when reconnecting leave the car ideling for 10 mins or so, and give it a good drive, this is a good idea if you have cleaned the MAF sensor anyway as it will relearn things with a clean sensor :)

yeah true true ive already cleaned the butterfly i think its called on the air intake that was clear, but im guessing it needs it all taking off as prob got 14 years worth of crap in it.
