Recently my car has started to idle alot higher than normal

When coming to a junction it is idleing at 1.5k instead of 1k like normal

Also when changing gear the revs are not dropping like they normally do, say i change gear at 3k by the time i get on the accelerator again the revs would have dropped but now the revs are still 3k when im back on the accelerator

Is this going to be the usual case of clean the MAF and ISCV ?

This isnt every time i come to a junction either, sometimes it idles fine but it is becoming more common for it to not idle correctly than for it to idle correctly at 1k

Thought it probably would be, i'll try the usual carb cleaner in the butterfly and a different TPS as well and see what happens

take the ISCV off completely and give it a proper good clean out

If that doesn't cure it, probably a vacuum leak. When you start the car firs thing, does it idle normally, then idle high after driving?

Yeah, I had the same on my Si, would start it up and it'd be fine, drive around and it would sometimes be ok, but if I ever booted it, it wouldn't settle low again. Turned out to be a bit of vacuum pipe under the coil pack had a hole in it. When you boot it, it sucks more air in and confuses the ECU so it comepensates with the higher idle. Something to bear in mind. Check out your vacuums before you spend any cash.

Yeah that pipe that goes from the front breather to the nipple under the coilpack is a pain in the arse. Kept me changing things for 6 months before I noticed it
