pulled up outside my nans last nite, turned the engine off, got out locked the car. all i cud hear was coolant leaking out of it! next thing then was loads of steam cumin out of the bonnet!

looked like there was a leak from around the thermostat. all the coolant was gone within a minute.

im gona go have a look now. any1 got any ideas on what it cud be?

is the engine temp getting high? if so the thermostat may be stuck closed? also have you checked the clip holding the house onto the thrmostat houseing, may have come lose or something. or mayb the house has actually split? just check everything around that area, even check the thermostat gasket, it may have perished :)

ive had thermostat housing crack on me before, but id take the thermostat out and cuck it in some boiling water to make sure it opens cz sticking thermostat happened to the bloke who owned my si befor eme and thats how i got it for a mere £60! and it passed mot on saturday with only needing a sidelight bulb 8-)

then broke down 100m down the road..... i have still yet to fix it :o

thanks guys! but ive sorted it already!

it was the pipe just underneath the thermostat goin into the engine which had split on the end where the jubilee clip had been.
