Post subject: | Oil Breathers / Breathing question |
Right, been reading this months Fast Ford and it has a section on Oil breathers and what they do. After every track day my airbox is full of oil, now I can only think it is due to the hard cornering pushing the oil to one side of the engine causing it to push oil out of the breather, (according to Fast Ford a common problem with Cossies after a hard drive), and that would make sense as Snetteron you are usually cornering right at high speed. What could I do to ease the problem? as it is destroying my air filters, I was also thinking of getting a cone filter (possibly K&N) but if I have this problem it will destroy this filter. Any thoughts appreciated, oh and the engine is a standard 1.6 zetec with 60k and full Ford dealer service history. |

http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... her+filter If there's that much, you may need to sort out some sort of catchment device.....ie, cable tied coke can, as I can confirm track officials don't aprecciate a car pissing oil ![]() |

there is a picture in the link below on what i done with my rocker cover breather, not crank case i did buy a catch tank but never fitted it as engine doesnt seem to kick out any oil, as yours hasnt done to many miles may be worth checking the crankcase breather to check it clear if you are chucking out that much oil |

cant find my haynes manual at mo but on my 2litre the breather is on front of the block behind the exhaust downpipe in what looks like a tin box and the hose comes from it and appears to go into the inlet manifold, can imagine if this was blocked all preasue would have to vent via the head pipe which goes to the air box or blow a seal! |

Sorry to drag this up again. ![]() I have fitted the K&N, now have the breather hose spare, I'm going to put this into a bottle in the engine bay, does the bottle have to be open at the top to vent air out or can it be sealed tight with the breather hose in the top? Also if anybody has pictures that could be helpful as I'm struggling to get my head around the breather subject.... ![]() |

just found this comprehensive installation guide specific to the fiesta (dont know if kit came with instructions?) this mentions about breather connecting to the base of the filter and also shows cold air feed position |
