as per the topic really, is it easier to do it with or withouth the gearbox attached to the engine..............................bearing in mind the gearbox will also need to be refitted

as above, fit itall up with the cradle on the box and lift it up from below the car

take your time and don't forget to fit things like the heater matrix pipes up and vauum hoses etc while you refit it

Only problem i find with going in from underneath is that the wishbone carriers make things a bitch.

If your just doing the engine at another time and gearbox is allready in then going out the top is much easier and quicker. You dont have to take out driveshafts, linkage and the gearbox obviously! Only problem is you need to remove the front box bracket so you can move the gearbox over enough.

if the gearbox is allready in, then just take the crank pulley off and the engine slips in quite easily i found the other week on my si, if the box is out allready then yeah bolt em up n do them as one.
