isn't white smoke turbo or head gasket related usually? |

Thought white would point towards water? Id of thought most exhausts would have smelt of fumes tbh unless yours is excessively so ![]() |

Again, it wasnt white white, I couldnt really distinguish the colour due to being in the white spray booth Will see what its like after its been running for a while |

could be the cold start valve is stuck on causign it to overfuel but this would be black black smoke, is the engine ecu controlled or not? |

Could it be that the engine hasn't run for a while? I went to see an XR2i with low mileage once which hadnt been started for months and stored outside, it smoked loads of white like a headgasket failure but with none of the usual signs ie oil water mix etc. After a while settled down and never did it again. |

I very much doubt headgasket as engine hasnt been used properly for god knows how long lol I need to get it out of spray booth sometime this week and give it a good thrash. also, it was ecu controlled but is now reverted back to mechanical, we have alterered fueling for on boost only and only spits abit of black smoke out when booting it, but Im gonna adjust that cold start seems to be working fine as it pulls the wire when cold then slackens off fine when warm im guessing it could just need a good booting as ive had it for 3 months sat there and ghost only ran it in his van for a week or so lol |

Running lumpy could be anything, are the injection pump belt and timing belt timed up properly? Injector? White smoke sounds headgasket could be suspect |

Everything is timed up. We shall see once I am able to drive it around, got bodywork to get on with for now ![]() |

white smoke is generally fuel starvation for a diesel. make sure the lines are clean and you've not got a blocked filter or its sucking in air somewhere. a little black smoke when you boot it is acceptable on older systems. a little puff would be okay. if its doing it all the time on boost..then you have issues. jam. |

I shall see later this week once the car is out of the spray booth.. Its going to get a good thrashing, to clear it out for a start. I did think about the fuel lines, but it was previously a petrol so therefore I see it needs a good thrashing to get the diesel flowing through them, also the lines in the bay, I am going to make them better as I am unhappy with them, could be sucking in some air tbh, so the way I want to do it will eliminate that problem (if it exists) ![]() Doesnt smoke black too much on boost, but I can change that with a tweak on the pump, or just turn the boost up ![]() Oh and regarding the MOT, that will be fine.. well should be ![]() |
