Hi, new to the forum, so hello everyone. Need help to sort out my fiesta si 1.4. I've had all the usual tick over problems which I sorted with a new MAF and that round plastic breather thingy. Problem is its lacking any power. It just feels so flat and has no get up and go. Basically I'm getting fed up with getting pi55ed on by 1.1's. Is the engine just tired or can any of you suggest anything else to look at? ![]() ![]() By the way it on a M plate, done 70K. |

Serviced it recently? If not then change plugs, leads, filters and oil. Use good quality items, specallly for leads. If you have then check gap on plugs is right. Checked inlet air temp sensor/ coolant temp sensor? Could be lambda. |

Forgot to mention, changed plugs, leads, filters and lambda. Does the car have a fuel filter and if so where? Heard else where that some of the fiesta's don't. Its just failed its mot on the lambda but passed after I changed the plastic thingy. |

if its like the 1.6 then it(fuel filter) should be on the passenger side just behind the battery, by the jack edit:- you got a haynes manual? |

Ok, found the fuel filter, round metal thing, seems ok but a change won't do any harm I guess. Where can I find the air temp sensor and can I check if its working? Thanx boys |

air temp sensor is at the back of the inlet manifold iirc, if its like the zetec engine'd fiesta that is |

Car does rev ok when out of gear but like you say when driving it does struggle to get much passed 3k. Hills are a nightmare, the car just throws the towel in going up hill. |

When I was trying to get the lambda reading down for the mot my mate in the garage said it smelt a bit caty. Will have to try and remove it and replace with some pipe to check. Does seem to be a fair bit of pressure at the tail when revv'd tho. Will keep you all informed. |

Analogy: Exhale really quickly. Now breathe through a straw with spirit and the pressure is increased. An engine produces a suprising amount of exhaust gasses......hense why you often get a whistle, more than the straw in my anaolgy can perhaps handle....esspessially once the engine produces more and more exhaust gasses at say........3k rpm ![]() |

Not sure if all these problems are making my fuel costs go out the window. anyone know what the mpg is on my 1.4. If I stick a tenner in I get about 70 miles out of it, that vgery very steady driving. ![]() ![]() |
