Hi Fellas Recently bought a 1995 1.6 Si andbeen getting her upto scratch but encountered some problems recently! In a quest of changing my gearbox oil I fear I have done something to 5th gear as now I can't engage it. (I later learnt there is no drain plug! so I guess whatever I undid is 5th gear related ![]() 5th gear will move to the correct position but it doesnt engage every other gear including 4th is fine Anyway the question I want to ask is what does this bolt do because I'm sure me undoing this was the cause of it unfortunately! (yes I'm a retard I know & i will be more caeful in future!!) Heres a pic, any advice greatly appreciated as I'm stuck now! Is it maybe worth removing the panel off the side of the bell housing and having a look? That's not the drain plug lol. There's a plug to the left of that somewhere, possibly a bit higher (can't remember exactly where) that's a plug you can use to top up though. |

did you touch your gear linkage? wouldn't of thought it would be a clutch issue as you can select every other gear |

the drain is just to the left its the long plug (think its a 19mm) as for what you have done drain the oil and see what comes out (like small bits of metal) |

yeah I saw that too which was prettyy much right next to it. but though this one looks more like a plug lol Theres no grinding or anything so im gunna check the linkage first ie stick it in 5th and tighten it a little and see if that helps I just cant see what removing that bolt could have done ![]() ![]() |

Fellas we have an update , whoever said it can be used as a fill plug needs to be careful! I have removed the panel on the bellhousing for further investigation look at this! [img]http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb239/mattjk88/29062008041.jpg[/img*] This is the bolt I undid Look at this loose piece! Can anyone help me I guess it just pushes back in bolts back up but if anyomne could confirm that would be great [img]http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb239/mattjk88/29062008042.jpg[/img*] Many thanks! please resize to 800x600 - onslack |

Lol it was that bolt it held that clip on, i pulled the cog into 5th gear and selected 5th on the stick and managed to get it all back in again! Was a right fiddly bastard though Word of warning to all dont undo that unless you wanna spend hours taking the casing off and realigning it! ![]() Ah well never mind hey ![]() ![]() |
