Didnt want to carry on the other one.. We sorted it out before and it was fine up till the Rolling Road Day!! Idles like crap, specially when hot now ive been in some hot traffic ![]() unplugged ISCV and it works. cut out twice since doing it but thats fair enough although this ISCV was working on the car it came off, and way to check they are working correctly? another thing is I think the front breather is blocked as the breather on the rocker cover seems to be spitting out a fair bit of oil ![]() ![]() |

you tried your coolant sensor on the top of your thermostat? i replaced mine and it made cutting out in traffic alot better worth a try, mine did it only when it was hot |

Ive got a brand new sensor on top of the thermostat ![]() I got told theres one under it also, but thats just for the gauge on the dash, so didnt think i need to faff abuot with that one also thought abuot changing the one on the back of the inlet manifold to see what that did? its just odd that the ISCV is the problem again (or so it seems, unless its not happy about something else lol), but this was a working one ![]() |

the one on the back is the IAT( inlet air temp sensor) give that a try never know it might do it, just seems very strange tho ![]() ![]() |

I might just go try a brand spanking new ISCV, even tho it was "working" on the other engine, you never know. zetecs are picky buggers. There is a sh*t load hissing of air around the brake servo tho, which I'm not sure if its meant to... |

Sounds like an air leak then paul, check all the vacuum pipes. |

hi paul doubt the idle valve would be the problem if it came of a car in working order i would trace the wires back on the idle valve in the loom and check to see if there are any breakeges u would be suprised good luck with sorting it |

It might sound strange to you but have you checked the coil? |

the hissing noise is supposedly excess pressure from the servo, which isnt a problem. all pipes going to the car are fine. odd thing. running with the ISCV ruined my MPG really really badly ![]() so i am driving with dodgy idle... oh and it sticks at 2000 revs for a while.. it must be the ISCV or the TPS ![]() |

does the iscv have to match the ecu? i only ask because on my car its specific to such. you can clean them by leaving it dipped in petrol for 10 mins. let it dry out. works a treat. traffic, the heat build up may cause it to stick. it does in mine. I used to rev at 3500 at junctions. ive fitted a remote fan switch keeps the engine bay cool whilst town driving. ![]() cant remember on the zetec, does it screw into the inlet manifold? have you tried changing that? the problem may lie beyond. a note to add - ive only ever had idle problmes with fords. ![]() |

Not sure if its specific to engine ![]() Screws on to the inlet: which is a pig to get to, I am tempted to take it off and clean it again as its been on for 3 months now ![]() We shall see.. Might just buy a new one |

If you aint sure Paul, then its well worth goin' for a new ISCV. If you have changed the coil pack once then it should be fine m8, unless you can think of any times you have cained it from a cold start(literally within 2seconds of start up) ![]() |

I dont get chance to cain it that quickly ![]() I will get a new ISCV depending on cost, if not I will live with it for now ![]() ![]() |

Not too many problems really tho so it aint bad, I do a good 300 miles a week average and have done since I got it, so it does me well ![]() I have to drive 115 miles to get to FITP ![]() |

![]() After having a read through of that and the fact it works better with the ISCV unplugged, I am guessing its that. Dont think I'll do it this weekend, gotta fit new parts to car tomorrow as my wheelbearing shot itself after fitting the coilovers ![]() |

After struggling to leave FITP with popping banging cutting out poor fuel consumption! etc etc I decided I needed to do something about it. Got home, removed ISCV and replaced with a sparkley clean one and the one I removed was nackered, the spring wasnt closing it fully, so replaced with a gasket I had to make out of gasket paper. Removed battery over night for 12 hours to make sure ECU was properly reset This morning it would idle better and not stick at 2500 revs, but was still lumpy. I found a hissing noise in the bay but we thought it was something else, so was looking around and then I randomly found something I never saw before, a pipe under the coilpack.. which wasnt connected on one end hmmm So started engine and noticed the hissing was a little thing on the side of the engine sucking a shit load of air in, which would be the cause of all my problems, so messed about with the pipe to get it on the engine securely.. And now, the RS1800 engine idles perfect, isnt popping like mad through the gears, and pulls a hell of alot better now ![]() Something so simple, but didnt know it was there! ![]() ![]() |
