Post subject: | Noise in rear suspension |
Bit of a strange one, I've got a strange metal on metal noise in my rear suspension passenger side. Its at the top of the strut, I've checked all bolts and they are tight, jacked the car up and the whole lot seems to be tight, ARB is not lose, I can't see what it is..... It doesn't do it when the supension is compressed ie on a speed bump, but if I go over rough ground it really rattles like something has come lose. Any ideas? |

Rubber bush in top eye of shock. Easiest way is new back shocks. You could just get a new bush and get it pressed in but its prob easier to just change shock. |

Ah, I've had new rear shock, have gmax -35mm kit only been on the car 6 months. It started after my track day, what does it look like is it part of the shock or a seperate part you can order from Fords? Cheers |

Its a rear shock, they dont have bearings at the top... Well if the kit is pretty new i cant see it beeing the bush. Check the top mount as said. |

You checked the Nut and Bolt at the top of the strut, my Si made a noise from the rear, the nut felt tight with my fingers, but when i got the Ratchet on it and tightened it the noise went away! ![]() |

Checked all the bolts and they are fine, when there is a passenger in the car (ie weight on the side with the problem) the noise stops but as soon as I'm in the car on my own over rough ground it returns. Does anybody have a picture or a 3D image of the strut top and top mount. Do I have to phone G-max and get a replacement or is the top mount something else? Cheers |

might not be it and not sure if someone else has mentioned it, but have you checked your exhaust rubbers? becks had a similar thing which i thought was her rear anti roll bar, but it turned out to be her exhaust rubbers at the rear had perished and the mid box was hitting on of the mounting points might not be your issue but worth a look if you haven't already |
