Didnt notice when bought the car but its tapping quite loud... my old fiesta use to sound same but it was a 1.1 shed on wheels and use to go through 3-4 litres of oil aweek due to the pistol rings lol ive checked oil level and its fine but just got the car and only done about 50 miles in it... but if anyone could help me with this may be have some ideas what it could be a problem or just me getting worried about my fezza

Depends how bad the tapping is. Some of the Zetecs will start tapping a bit as the mileage goes on. You didn't say what mileage it's got?

As a matter of course though, I'd change the oil - you never know what's been put in it before, the level might be ok, but the type of oil might not.

Just do a service on it yourself instead of a garage raping you!

At least do oil filter and oil change with the correct oil to see if it stops tapping :)
