I am having problems starting my car. When I turn the key, the ignition lights on the dash light up, turn it further & all I get is a clicking sound. Have found that the clicking sound comes from a small relay labelled as ‘A’ in the Haynes manual. I have changed the relay but still get the same problem. I have checked all the wiring where I can (fuse box etc) which all seem OK, have checked the fuel cut off switch, all OK there as well. The lights, wipers, blower etc all work OK so I’m totally baffled. Has anyone got any ideas what the problem might be & how to resolve it? Also, does anyone know what relay ‘A’ is for?

may sound silly but have you checked the terminals on the battery, i had this happen a while ago, turns out i had forgotten to tighten the bolts up fully, lol

wack it in gear and rock it back and forth. starter motor may be on the way out and stuck, this rocking may free it. if the engine isnt turning over then its prob the starter motor.

flat battery m8 is the alternator charging if its the starter then it will defo be the starter soleniod u can pick them up for a 10 ner instead of buying a complete starter m8 might save u bit of money
