is it actually revving that high or is the counter telling you porkies?

if its revving that high clean ISCV and MAF

if its clocks then either change the clocks over, and/or make sure the plug into the back of the clocks is in correctly.

Yea i have a simalar problem with my rev counter sum times, but the oposit to you mate as mine reads nuthing, but it only really happens when the car is cold, when it warms up it runs perfect an gives the rite reading, and it only happens ocashonaly but i dont get it, ive checked and cleaned all the conections but it keeps on doin it so is a mistery to me lol.

check the pickup on the coil.(if it has one) and try giving the clocks a light tap.my needle used to get stuck so after a while i took the clocks out and blasted them with an airline.they were fine ever since.must if been a tiny bit of crap!
