After driving my car this evening, I had the satnav on while on a private road and against my satnav vs speedo it is this: 40 on speedo is 35 on satnav 50 on speedo is 45 on satnav 60 on speedo is 55 on satnav 70 on speedo is 64/65 on satnav 80 on speedo is 72/73 on satnav 90 on speedo is 82 on satnav 100 on speedo is 92 on satnav 110 on speedo is 102 on satnav 120 on speedo is 112 on satnav the 5mph difference seems alright to me, but im sure lower down used to be more accurate than that. although i do have some lookwood dials which could make it wrong if the dials are slightly moved the wrong way i guess.. or the needle accuracy as well because.. below 45/50mph the speedo needle is on the piss, and you cant get a good reading at all see video: (phone camera cant even keep up with how much it wobbles! trying to stick to 30mph it wobbles between 25 and 35!) what are the causes of this? speedo cable? anything else? thanks, paul. |

jesus they are shockingly shite clocks for being that inaccurate, 8mph out above 70!.. I gotta sit at just under 80 on the clocks for 70mph in real terms ![]() ![]() |

I've read somewhere if the needle wobbles it is either a speedo cable on its way out or something in the gearbox has started to go. My old 1.1 did this when the gearbox started to make a wining noise when driving, however I sold it before I could find out what the problem was..... |

for example, big chunky compomotive wide rims, with wide tyres ![]() might still change speedo cable as it didnt seem to do it before on these wheels lol no idea if gearbox is alright to be fair lol |

The Compo's wont make that much difference, id swap your speedo cable, as Trissy said when its gets worn it causes the speedo to bounce! ![]() |
