A few weeks back i sent my dad to get some oil for my fiesta 1.6si so it was toped up ready for its m.o.t anyway motor world gave my Dad 10w mineral oil instead of sympathetic an he topped it up! Ever since then my car at about 3500revs blows big amounts of white smoke! i got the garage to change the oil but they didn't flush it out but it has made a little difference but its still bad when i put my foot down. anyway i took it to a guy who builds engines and he did a compression test and said one piston seems oily an the ratings were, Piston one 170,Pistion two + three 165 and piston four 160 out of 180. He reckons its the valves but the other garage i took it to for the oil thinks its the piston rings Has this ever happened to any one before? the car does seem to use more oil since the mineral was put in bare in mind it has been changed back to the right oil. any help? |

white smloke generaly tend to be water... well, steam compresion test on cylinders do tend to vary, but differing by only 10 isnt the end of the world. are you sure they is defo no leaks ? |

Its defiantly burning oil from the exhaust, the oil does seem to go down abit faster it smells of oil as well its more of a gray white smoke its defo not steam cos it stinks lol i might have got my self a cheap si with a side smash so i might plan on changing the engine and if it is the valves then i will re build my one over the summer. im not 100% sure if it is the oil stem valves but so far that's what most people are saying but there does seem to be allot of smoke for it to be valves and the smokes only really happens when i put my foot down. any more help?cant pass mot on emmisions ![]() |

If the oil was burning you'd get bluey grey smoke smoke that stinks and as mentioned white smoke is water. Does it smoke just when cold or also when warm? Compression test it. Either piston rings/bore wear or valve stem seals. |

Its already been for a compression test since i toped the oil up its more of a gray smoke stinks as well an there seems to be more smoke but that could be down to not using it much in the last 2 weeks it smokes when ever i put my foot down no matter what the weathers like. I just got my self another si cheap so maybe best thing to do is change engines over? |
