Search for members Views on the ashley manifold, but you can sum it up with, you get what you pay for, cheap does the job, but there are better out there, its Mild steal so will rot unlike stainless! ![]() Ask Happypaul on his views he has one and ask Des as the Manifold was designed on his Si! ![]() |

looks good, but would think as it rises up first that clearance would be a problem and increased under bonnet temperature, 1 thing to look out for is i think some Zetec escort manifolds will not fit as the down pipe hits the starter motor |

The focus one will fit with modifiction, but its feking tight! Like seriously tight between down pipe and starter motor! DALSY got one on his IIRC. Im getting an ashley one end of this month, gotta be better than a standard fez one at the least. |

Yea i think ive seen 1 bein fitted and they hadto persuade the part closest to starter by dinting it in a little with a hammer lol. So would you say an ashley would be better? Im just using the 1600 one and it must be holding me back quite a bit. |

ashley ones are a pain the arse. you have to remove the starter (or was it alternator) to get it into the bay. or do what I did and completely bend the front panel to get it in. its tight around the starter you will have to remove one of the hangers for the cat which is on that S brace thing. and most likely add some more pipe to it to fit the rest of your exhaust, around 2inch worth, so best be handy with a welder to get it done properly. also it will sit on the S brace unless you have fitted an extra hanger to the actual manifold where it turns 2 into 1, FRST's have hangers from the gearbox, so maybe possible to fit one there, or try make one to incorperate that S brace. just warning you before you think its an easy off and on job. |

what the hell were you doing paul you animal ![]() ![]() can i just add one point. for all those of you who slate mild steel manifolds its down to the quality of the steel. another car i own has tubular mild steel manifolds on that are getting on for 20 odd years old....yes they are a bit brown..but no where near rotten through granted ashelys are made from thinner steel but i should imagine by the time it rots through the rest of the car will have long been put in the bin. thats just my tuppence 'apennys worth. ashely manifolds also have a history of splitting when heat wrapped..dont know why or if its been resolved but this has been the word on the grapevine for some time Jam |

you had to do some addy addy. although mines just f*cking came off the manifold again, so just drove 20 miles from work with just the manifold. awsome, f*cking exhausts no fault of the ashley, just the bloody clamps |

Post subject: | Re: Manifold |
You could clamp some pipe onto it, not too hard really. I've found the problem of mine, the rest of the exhaust wasnt sat correct and pulled the 2-1 bit of the manifold off lol, gonna sort it once i get my extra stainless pipe ready to remove my mid box ![]() |
