hi i have just lowered my si, i bought a set of gmax 30mm lowering kit off alexgotaSI,

but the problem is that the front wheels sit very low that they are slightly inside my arch and any bump or tight corning it rubs plus my cat is about 3 inches off the floor so speed bump are a no no, , i have looked at the spring the its all in the right place and it has gmax 30mm stamped on it, i know it should not be that low its like i have fitted a 60mm kit from the amount of drop,

could it be that the spring has had it , the shocks were fine when i put them on and pressed in with pressure and came out on there own

any ideas would be good, thanks

The height from the floor also depends on what size wheels you've got, I've got a gmax -35mm and 14 inch wheels and can't even get a trolly jack under the chassis rails if I want to jack it up!!

The springs could have lost tension with age, you got a 2.0? they also weight the front down more, could be other worn components too.

The rear end of a fiesta always seems to sit high with gmax springs on.

Look at my car, I have 35mm fronts, with 60mm rears, just to level it out a little more (I cant use 60mm front due to size of wheels lol)

The numbers on the springs as said above do not correspond to the actual mm of lowerage they give, I think my 60mm's say 30 on them, its a part number so check ;)

just checked the code on the spring and they are normal mk3 fiesta/van 60mm springs.

i have 14" wheels and it rubs on bumps and hard turns so i would changing my tyres every week because they will have a big groove in them!!!

so i have just ordered 30 mm springs kit for a fiesta si,/ rs, xr2i 94-95 which should lift it up a bit. and look more level and stop so much rubbing

so now the old ones are for sale, 30mm rears and 60mm front springs, which puts the tyre just inside the arch, looks good from the front but not good for me to many speed humps around, would be better if you have 13" wheels so it may stop the rubbing.

depends on the wheel size and ofset

as I could use 15 inch alloys perfectly with a 60mm drop, and that using standard mk3 (not 3.5) springs, I could have used my 16's if I run 195 tyres, but I run 205's

thanks for your all your help

PS, thanks to the person, for selling me the kit with 60mm springs, knowing they are 60mm spring and telling me that they are 30's, cost me alot of time plus i has to but new springs

i have pm him and had nothing back, he fitted them to his car but then did not want them because, he then changed to spax suspention, so he saw how low they were, plus a friend of his said it a post above that he has a problem, and when he checked to codes on the spring to the website he found they were 60mm not 30mm,

nice bloke,

jus bin reading the post an yea i had a few problems lowering my fiesta, i went out an bought a 60mm cobra lowering kit an fitted it with the standared 14inch si ally wheels the front seemed to be fine was really close as i couldent fit my little finger between the wheel an the arch but dident rub or scrub as the springs are so solid they wont even compress lol but the back seemed to be up in the air an bounce like nethin, so the way i solved it was to remove the lowering springs from the back an put the original ford springs back on but just minus 4 coiles with the handy angle grinder lol an now it handles and looks fine just the look i wanted, however if anyone is thinkin about cutting the spring to lower a car bear in mind it is very dangerous an i would strongly advise not cutting front coiles as is more dangerouse than doin the back, it will also fail an mot, but it seems to me tho that it realy is pot luck when buying a lowering kit as you never realy no how your car will sit untill its back on its wheels.
