Stupid fapping barstewarding car!!!! :x

Went out in all that rain on Saturday, put the car to bed and when i got in it Sunday morning to go out it wouldn't start, it was turning over fine, but just wouldn't fire!
Sooo terry has come to my rescue (with help of some telephone friends - you know who your are ;) and has done the following to try and sort it:
Replaced CPS
Swapped Coil Pack - From terrys working one!
New plugs
Swapped ECU - From terrys working one!
Checked for spark (ok)
Checked for fuel (ok)

Had a recovery bloke out who managed to get it started after continuous turning over, when it started it was mis-firing, and sounded like a tractor! After revving it for abit it wouldn't idle on its own and just cuts out. Then its a mission to try and start again

Any help muchly appreciated or its going to the scrap yard! :x :x

plug gaps alright? sounds daft but mine was being a bástard and we couldnt figure it out till we faffed with the plug gaps.

Also, checked for any air leaks, in any of the pipes, the inlet manifolds etc as if they are bad it wouldnt wanna start, as you probably read.. I had them major air leak problems causing my car to not idle or start every now and then :(

Don't give up, not worth scrapping! :)

Timing could have jumped out by a tooth or so, if you've hit a bump etc and the belts jumped. :(

If the timings right, im stumped but ill have a good think for you! :) Chin up!

i had the same problem with my 1.6 si

sounds like a broken valve spring or burnt out valve best thing to do is get a compression test done on it next

broken valve spring would make all sorts of noises.

They have tried new and old plugs Happypaul.
They managed to get a weak spark with the old plugs so put new ones in and nothing. then put the old ones back in and no spark again.

Leads are newish i think terry said and they have tried the coilpack from terrys car as well as the ecu so that rules out the sparking system

got toi bhe coil pack when u change it look for the same serial number on the coil pack there are diffenret ones with different numbers if its a weak spark its got be related to the coil pack alos check the loom on the coil pack

Along the lines of what Garry said.....

Rough just at idle?
Any throttle control?
Do revs rise and fall in anything other than a normal fashion?

How new are your dizzy and leads??

i think tbh boost she would be best taking it for a diagnostic test because really wasting all this money on unessecary things no point because u could spen like £10 on one and still wont do anything personally if it was my car i would take it for a diagnsotic test

becks try spraying some wd40 on all the connector plugs and check there are no breaks in the coil pack wires or the connector going to to the coil pack
