Its only used with external edis I think, so most Si's/mondeo's
etc don't use them, but still have the terminal there.

It's nothing to worry about

I had to find out about it when I had problems, temp sensor
helped my issues once the car warmed up also.

I'm suprised no one has said it yet, but it could be a vacuum leak. I had exactly the same problem as you, I even made a video of it because it was driving me mental!


(Thats with the ISCV unplugged, it would have cut out if it was in!)

It ran better with the ISCV out so I assumed it was that. I changed between the same 2 ISCV's at least 6 times and got through 3 MAF filters and couldnt find the problem. One day I noticed a sucking noise around the throttle body. The gasket between the inlet manifold and TB was leaking air in and causing a lean mixture. I took it off and used a load of hylomar and it was running perfectly afterwards. Something to consider?

I think you solved it my good man, there is a sucking noise around the TB, didnt realise if it was meant to be there or not

Will have a look before I mess about with any other sensors, will let you know tomorrow

There will always be a slight noise around the TB from the air going through the ISCV. I pinpointed mine by spraying WD40 around the TB. The leak wasn't big enough to suck any WD40 in but it did seal it off and make the sucking noise quieter. Give that a try before you start taking apart!

Yeah I am pretty sure It could be that cause I remember my mate bodging a gasket together when we fitted the engine lol

Lol yeah thats probably it then. Mine was because I had a mondeo gasket for a fiesta TB, so I had to drill a new hole in it. When I drilled it it creased the gasket and I didnt realise.

Well updates, and still pissing me off

Done the ISCV and TB gaskets

Changed to a known working ISCV

MAF and ISCV clean as a wistle

Had a temp sensor on the thermostat changed

All connections are clean to make sure it wasnt any correded pins etc

Had new spark plugs, and should be correct gap

All I can think of now is the exhaust sensor or timing slightly out

Well mattyboy has seen my car a while ago when picking some springs up, and he reckoned it must be the ISCV

Well I have just fitted another known working one, and guess what.. same problem

It's strange how when you unplug the ISCV it idles fine!

You checked timing!
