Engine doesn't tap at all and i have checked the oil before and it has been fine :hmm:

Very odd. I would get a change done as soon as you can then so you know exactly what's in there. There's nothing really that can go wrong with the dipstick, apart from a bit of a blockage, but even then you should get some readings, and I can't really see why you'd have a blockage, shouldn't be anything in there.

Got the right dipstick fitted? I remember when I was servicing a pinto engine once in one of my old jobs, we had about 3 kit cars in the shop all with pinto engines and each dipstick was different in terms of length. Simple things like that can ruin your day when the engine gives way one way or another.

surely lee should of carried out check to the oil and water etc before carrying out any sort of mapping?

i guess so - but it was just weird when i first checked it there was oil on dipstick and then 2nd time it was bone dry :hmm:

with some force you can pull the dip stick tube out, check its clear and that the dip stick isnt damaged

do an oil change while your at it, better to be safe than sorry!

ps - id get it sorted before it goes back to lee's :thumbsup:

confused by this as it has happened again even though the car is running spot on? :hmm: :lol:

pulled it out - wiped it - dipped it - had oil on dipstick but not a full covering of dipstick - wiped it - dipped it - bone dry :hmm:

drove to new forest and back with no problem

chris and rob advise just add oil and top it up until it reads but i am quite wary of adding oil for the sake of it?

it does have oil feeds to turbo and oil pressure gauge aswell
