so if it's not immobilser or fuel cut off, i am well and truly stumped. Unless the battery has enought juice to put electric on but not enough to crank it

RAC got the car going by bump starting it but starter motor is knackered.
So its sat on driveway now and won't start again.

Not sure if it's worth me sourcing another starter now.
As it is I'll probably just give this si away to whoever wants it.

Edit: battery tested fine, it wants to it's only 3 months old :lol:

thats the debate as I've literally just taxed it.

Its either give it away minus tax, the original interior put back in and original bonnet on it or sell it once I get hold of a starter.

mine used to do this when i had a bad earth from the engine to the body, to start it i had to connect a jump lead from the battery ( - terminal) to metal on the engine ( head, gearbox ect) and then it would start right away.

has the starter been struggling lately?

also why do you want to give it away, fallen out with it? ( not that i blame you as you say its trying to kill you )

It did this once before but after it being unjammed has run fine for months but this time it isn't having it.

At this point in time it needs a starter motor for it to run again.
General rust on the front wing it is pretty bad by mud flap.

I'd probably say in the next few months it could do with the wires (alternator - starter) replacing as they aren't the greatest.
Cambelt is due a change, belt is fine but as some of you from southern meets know sounds like there is a loose bit of plastic there. Has run for about 5k with the sound. the belt was changed about 48k ago (will double check paperwork)

Brit, I have replaced so much on this car since buying it (I won't list again but there is a list on my car thread and thats not even the complete list :lol:)
Its spun me off the road twice and I have sunk a lot of money into it. I just want to see the back of it now.


Nope not driving to manchester car isn't moving now till its gone.
Also I can get the train for free upto stoke-on-trent so the journey will end up costing me about £3 :lol:

In all fairness to it, it's been reliable even having no alternator connected for 2 days it drove. Mechanical magic.
Knowing my luck I'll get rid of it and nothing else will go wrong.

At this point I'm undecided if I give it away it will be missing some parts.

I won't be fixing it as a starter motor can't be as bad to buy as other parts I've brought for it.

If I do sell it I'll probably put it up for 160 with no tax or 260 with tax (standard si interior and bonnet)
The alloys cost me near 120 for those and tyres and the fog put me back 45 so just trying to recoup those 2 losses is enough for me.

Just saying don't make a rash choice, look on the positive the odds are nothing will go wrong now so get more use out of it and recoupe you losses that way.
