Double that for me I'm mechanically inept  especially with my dud right hand atm. Cut it up nicely when I was sorting the electrics behind the dash earlier (fog light, heater switch and stereo)

Onto my nest question.
A decent ford spares shop in Kent?
Hopefully within an hour of the M25 junction 6.
Don't mind it being a bit of a longer drive now I've sorted somethings out with the car.

- Exhaust Manifold Gasket = £8.00 something
- Nuts = £82p per item (9 in total)
- Studs = £1.72 per item (9 in total).

it is quite costly to buy all new ...i'd personally get a few spare studs and nuts incase.
I done mine today and it was a big time pain in the ass. Reason being i didn't remove the manifold - i levered it away from the head to remove a stud (threaded for some reason). Anyway, generally the bolts wont' be to bad and if your lucky you won't have problems. I'd get a decent 'deep' 13mm socker though as it takes an age with spanners. Other than that plenty of WD40.

Hope this helps.
Andy

just re-read my post above and realised it made no sense at all...thats what beer does.

What i mean buy didn't remove the manifold, just levered it away from the head - i did remove the manifold from cylinder head, just kept everything else attached (i.e. down pipe etc), so it was very manoeuvreable once all nuts had been removed. this made removing the dodgy stud a nightmare due to space requirements.

Lol hope that clears it up :lolz:

ok think I got what you mean on that one.
Either way makes sense to me, I've never done anything with a manifold before

ok so went to pick up the bits today but half are missing. They should be there for me to pick up in the morning with any luck.

Does anyone know where I can find the section that refers to changing or removing this section of the exhaust in the haynes manual.
I'm having a hard time finding it.

I feel like a right thick one I've actually read through that chapter and still can't find it
it does reference removing the exhaust but not the bit I'm after, nothing like going in blind I suppose

you just got to undo the downpipe nuts with the springs on, just take note on how they come undone

then soak all the nuts on the manifold with w40 then go back and undo them all, remove the manifold and gasket and put your new manifold gasket on and then put the manifold back on and connect and do the downpipe back up

only thing that might end up being a pain is the EGR :squint: , i hate thing thing with a passion :hmm:

i dont think i took any pic's when i did mine

nevermind.

Went to the place today and the bloke behind the counter had ordered the wrong bolts (I knew as I'd just replaced both of the ones with the spring on previously) He then tried to convince me they were the right ones/
The only thing correct was the gasket, nothing else was. Also he'd charged me for the downpipe thing and it hadn't turned up.
Fed up with being messed around, so just said give me my deposit back and left.

I'm now going to pay for the garage to do it, even though its going to cost me double :squint:
