he said he would do it for nothing but i want his boss to do it so he said prep it and stick it in the oven then he will give it the full blow over as i have currently got a multi coloured car

how do you prep it? sand it down?

yep just give it a sand down fill the dents and get rid of rust then d a it off to get all the dust and sh*t off then primer and spray

ooo that has made me happier because i have loads of little annoying dents. what do you fill them with? nearer the time i will post another so you can give me all the details then like...

If you want a decent job, let a bodyshop do the whole lot.

The best sprayer in the world could spray a car but if the prep is not good then it will look rubbish.
With the filler its also to do with making sure you mix the right amount of hardener, and that its sanded back grit by grit to smoothness. On that note, you want as little filler as possible, as large areas you can sometimes notice in the paint.

Dont want to put anyone off but i wouldnt want people to be dissapointed too. On the other hand its how you learn new things!

lol yeh, i would probably get them to do the whole thing depending on the cost.
if my paint work was alright, you wud have put me off but its fecking terrible and u wud agree if u saw it! il post some pics tomorrow just to prove how bad they are! but thanks for the advice. much appreciated.

You get what you pay for IMO. I would expect to pay upto 2k if I wanted a GOOD prep, respray and finish.

But then if I do something, I want it doing to the best standard.

yeh i was a bit but the car had to be collected as it had no insurance tax or mot it was a bit of a mess had different colour panels some not painted, and a load of dents and a few scabs of rot in the door rubber seals also it had filler that needed to be removed and had lots of extra/ bad previous paint jobs all over it but the finish on it is pretty dam good
