is the firing order rite i known ppl thinkin number one plug is atthe coil pack end when its at the cambelts end

1,4,3,2 from the cambelt end the firing order should be

and also i would check the crankshaft and ignition coil wires as they can break over time

also if u went out in the rain and its not running rite now look around the engine bay for dampness on the all the connectors has to be somet to do wiv the damp i would also check the power control module to make sure there is no water got in there, also you could possibly have water coming inside the car and probably has gone into the PCM

when the break down bloke arrived he checked the firing order ;) as becks' car's coil pack lacked a label on the coil pack he was using my car to see where the leads went

came in pretty handy having 2 Zetec Si's on the drive :insanity:

did get a little annoyed when he started talking down to me as if i didn't know what was going on or how the car worked  he shut up after i told him that along with a mate(jam) the 2 us us converted the car to run the 2.0

thank you for all the help and replies tho guy's, very much appreciated :D

long shot but.... could it be your mass air flow sensor? although i couldnt see how that would kill the spark!

my brain hurts...lol

Right, the car is back...
And you will never guess what was wrong with it.............

Absolutely nothing!!!!!
Yep thats right the mechanic picked up the car on the truck, rolled it into his workshop, checked for a spark on all 4 leads, turned the key in the ignition and vooooom! It started, no spluttering, no idle issues NOTHING!
He couldn't find a thing wrong with it, and ive just driven it home like nothing happened!
All i have to say is its trying to ruin my life! :x
He did say maybe one of the temp sensors is playing up, giving the wrong temp to the engine and therefore its overfuelling and flooding the engine - hence the not starting. So going to replace both sensors and pray it never happens again!

Damned stupid car lol
Thanks for all your help and suggestions though, and remember if your car fails to start in the future, there might actually be nothing wrong with it at all!!! pmsl :lolz: :lolz:

I remember getting into the mk4 one morning and it just wouldnt turn over or anything, though the electrics worked! So had to get a taxi to work and wondered all morning what it could be!

Scott picked me up on dinner so we could have another look, went to turn it over and it was fine! :look:

i think my problem was the rare immobilser (sp) curse.
