was removing the front crank case oil breather setup on my Zetec and found this weird blanker sitting in there, which has me confused s it seems to completely block it off


can anyone clear up what it is, does and should i leave it out as i do get a rough and lumpy idle, this would have an effect on that im sure?

would be ideal to know before tomorrow when i put the exhaust back on the car

As far as I'm aware that breather is one way, so could be to do with that

It works from the pressure from the inlet, was only reading up about the breather system last week but I can't remember much at moment.
But basically, without it, it'll cause shit.

i wouldn't block it off... crank case breather is important, without some form of breather in the block, pressure would build up and cause all kinds of issues... it will put strain on pistons and rings, bearings could wear faster and fail, and will most definatly blow out the oil seals and gaskets

grab another from ebay or a scrappy

removed that piece and refitted everything, runs fine but still lumpy on idle lol

try MAF or ISCV...

unplug MAF while running if it runs better unhplugged theres your problem... if its not, try new ISCV dont bother cleaning it as its only gonna be a shot term fix

noted thanks, its not the maf, I've tried many and also had it unplugged for a few days made things worse and overfueled like a thirsty slag

guess ill have to just a buy a new iscv one day

aaaaah that clears things up, looking at that it just looks like a simple splash guard

thats put to rest my worries of too much oil going through my inlet, ill just baffle the pipes a bit

Nah I dont think so, it already has a fiesta sump on the engine, which is full of fresh oil lol.

I may have a sump going spare when the 1.6 engine is out though :)
