noticed some on the bottom of several of the arches. not too severe. and the bottom corner of my door. came back from college today, thought id have a quick gadge before i went crazy on cod and there seems to be a slight rust problem just under the skirts. paint cracking off etc. anyway to tackle this (a rust based liquid paint etc) or is it a simple repair of the skirts?

i also know its common for rust on the arches and they will need repairing and i am planning on doing that soonish, just want to keep it alright till then.

if its straight forward rust then grind/sand rust treater then slap some hammerite or something over the top wont come back for a few years then haha

as for cracked paint could buy a touch up pen with filler if not to bad and just build it up layer by layer then add colour, or if its a big bit then its gonna be needed to be sanded flat and sprayed

what i done on one of my arches is just grind it on a angle took the whole arch lip back to bare metal then re-sealed it

how did you re seal it? is that the whole arch lip or just the part that is parallel to the ground if you get my drift? if not il explain in the pics when i post them tomorrow. but if you're talkin about what i think you are then that wud be perfect as on the rear, the arch lip digs into my tires when i have a full car, il also show pics of that!

yep the lip that is tucked up i had stupid knobbly bits so i just hacked it with the grinder as i could see it was getting worse just need to do the other arch its weird my rear ones need doing but the fronts are fine :hmm:

haha yeh i know what you mean :D how did you seal that like? i still have some on the circular lip going right round the arch. not terrible but i can see it getting worse in the future. ive been told i can bash them in but that will crack the paint n make it rust where people can see it! ahh well. il jst put it down to ppls advice tomorrow with the pics.

a quick tip if your gonna bash it, use a rubber mallet or copper mallet and heat the area up with a hairdryer :thumbsup:

what i done was grind it back with the grinder, slap some kurust on for good measure left it for a few hours wiped if off and masked it up and sprayed it with red hammerite, obviously if its gonna be showing seal it with some sort of sealer and use proper colour spray :thumbsup:

theres not much to cock up its pretty easy yeah bashed mine a few time but it kept popping back out looks like if its caught something :hmm:

yeah im only 18 my wheels are ford graphite grey with rs centrecaps :D nah i was gonna chuck self tappers but a boy on another forum tigersealed his ZS skirts onto his mk4 and he said they were fine even in triple figure speeds and my car doesnt go that fast haha but im using sikaflex which is stronger than tigerseal again :D
