just replaced the rocker cover gasket, and I cant tighten the rocker cover bolts enough because they are just snapping in half. Do I have to order these in from ford? Also if its not tight enough, what will happen? will it fu*k my engine if I drive it? thanks 4 the help

I did think that, but it wasnt on that tight! are you looking for the rocker cover to be in contact with the head?

The rocket should lay flush with the head before you attempt to tighten the nuts, if it isn't the its not fitted properly!!!

If you run the car with it loose then it'll just spit oil everywhere plus you don't want little bits and bobs falling into your head.

hmm right ok, I got the gasket from halfords, they supplied a 2.0 litre zetec but was told it would fit the 1.6, im assuming it would?

yeah the gaskets are the same

the dont sit totaly flush.. theres a tiny gap all the way around

you don't need to tighten them exessively. just so that the gasket is well sealed and level. always fit a new gasket when taking cover off though
