You're supposed to change the Air Bag system after a certain amount of time aren't you? I've read something about the Pug one in the manual. Sure you change it after 10years.

although it may still work but its a chance isnt it.
i think the fiesta mk3's airbag impact sensor is actually right up next to the bulkhead (correct me if im wrong), so you would need to hit something pretty ****ing hard before it would go off?

I think they have a g-force type meter thing that sets it off. When i removed the dash in my si it had something that looked like thats what its job was. If it was simply a push switch, the engine blowing up and sending like a piston through the casing could hit the sensor and set off the airbag.

my training notes read:

"the mechanical crash sensors were installed in earlier airbag systems. the sensor contained a sensor ball (ball bearing) retained by a magnet.

The severity of the impact ocercomes the magnetic force, releasing the sensor ball, the ball then bridges two electrical contacts within the sensor, which completes a circuit to the airbag control unit".

"The external crash sensor enables a more accurate detection of the severity and the longitudinal direction of the impact."
blahblahblah..

Anyway, back to topic, if you really really want to cheat it, try different resistors between the wires, as this is how the Airbag computer works, it detects the resistance in the airbag module / unit, if it sees there is no resistance (i.e connect wires together) it sees a fault.
If there is an open circuit it would thing the airbag had been blown.
Likewise if the resistance is too great.
