EXHAUST BIT

its commen if the ppl that fit the centre bit on the exhaust doesnt do it properly but that wont be much ov power loss unless its got a masive hole in it
ur exhaust system could be blocked so have it running and put ur hand over the tail pipe applying gentile pressure and the exhaust pressure should be enough to push back at your hand and let the fumes out

but press hard and ull fooooook the engine so only do it for about 3 seconds

with your engine mate just give it a bloody good service i had that on my 1.3 fezzi and after a real good oil change and engine flush she was back up to scratch...for some reason the 1.1 and 1.3 get blocked up real easy...give it a try!!! i also had that problem on my old 1.3 fiesta with the exhaust center hanging low...loosen then bracket behind the cat and get a mate to hold the cat in place the you will need to twist the pipe up till it right in and tighten the u clamp up it should sort it out...this might also be why your exhaust blows because just behind the cat on the joining part there is a small slit that becomes open when the exhaust aint in the correct position...i had all these thing and this cleared it right up!!!

simple engine means simple fix in theory of course...if its that bad u can usually pick up a cheap 1.3 from the scrapy and they are so easy to fit in there...if you do go down this route your lookin at less about £100 max for the engine and about £20 to hire an engine crane for the day and just hope u got the right tools handy

The car is going in for a new backbox, after careful inspection there was a large hole near the joint.

Hopefully this weekend i will get oil changed/engine flushed, as ive already changed spark plugs and filter last weekend. I may also try changing the fuel filter and see if that makes a difference.

I don't think that the engine is really knakerd, it's been driven carefully and has only done 57,000.

Update!

Ran the car over to local garage to get it up and have a proper look at exhaust, was a small hole on one of the joins. Carried out a temp fix but recomended the backbox gets changed soonish. But at the moment no blowing noise

No progress on engine as yet, still running rough and under-powerd. Tried adjusting the tappets today to sort out horrid noise and see if it had any affect on engine...none, adjusted to the book but still as noisy

Will be carrying our engine flush, oil filter and oil change tommoro and have another go at adjusting tappets. Will let you know of outcome.
