I have just bought an si. When accelerating, it hesitates for a few seconds (feels a bit like turbo lag) but when the power eventually kicks in, the car performs normally. This delay can be anything up to about 10 seconds. I have plugged my car into the OBD (on-board diagnostics tester) in college and it came up with 2 faults, one was AIR INTAKE and the other was NO o2 READING. Im guessing the o2 reading is probably the lambda sensor but im not sure it would effect acceleration. When I unplug the air-flow sensor, the problem goes but the car is generally a lot slower. Does this definatly mean that the air flow sensor needs replacing or could the problem be something else? any ideas? many thanks,

it sounds like it'll be lambda sensor, MAF or TPS(throttle position sensor) you could try cleaning the MAF, and if that doesnt cure it try changing the lambda sensor
