again, i know its not a ford and its another vauxhall (my dads) but i thought id try help him out with an issue hes having...

when he accelerates around 1500rpm, its make a kind of screetchin, rattling (but really fast rattling), whining noise when he does. he did reverse ofcurb and knocked his splitter off but was unsure if hed done damage underneath.

a few theories could be something to do with the clutch, maybe the wheel, the exhaust could be vibrating against something (but then again it would do that when the cars still which it doesnt)... or maybe one of the belts is on its way out...

any suggestions or what we could look for would be great! thanks chaps

When hes doing 1500rpm stationary, moving or both?

just moving mate, which is really confusing lol... no idea what it could be. he thinks its something to do with clutch

You say he hit a curb and it squeels when driving? Its not wheels been knocked out?

If its not then probably fan belt, they squeel.

Sound like the duel mass flywheel is on it's way out, if it is you'll need a new DMF, clutch kit and hydraulic rrelease bearing or at a push it could be the metalastic crank pully when under load

is it an expensive job than tonwah? thanks for that btw mate. hes taking it to vauxhall anyway since its obviously nothing straight foward!

thanks louis, we'll see whether it is that or no. but my fan belts going and it wasnt really a similar sound, very strange but ill let everyone know what the situation is when he finds out.

DMF and clutch kit could easily cost up to and sometimes over £500 just for parts depending on model and engine size, then labour on top of that, sometimes not worth repairing if the car is tatty or not worth much
