Righty ho!
Got the engine running again by connecting the battery in the A4 and she runs a lot nicer. But there is a hissing noise coming from the right hand side of the inlet.
I originally thought it was from the brake servo, and the brake pedal doesnt quite feel right but after reading this
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=20665 I wonder if that is my problem, will check tomorrow.
On the alternator front I got a new one today but it is the wrong one as it is configured to mount at the rear of the engine. All that was available off the shelf, and I wanted it working so took it with a view to replacing the front house so it would mount right. Could I get the fooker apart? No, but now that my impact wrench has charged up its apart. Will rebuild tomorrow and install so at least I can start the engine without worrying about the battery.
So, anyone got any ideas for the hissing noise?
I've checked around the servo all seems ok, servo to inlet pipe seems ok, haven't checked the little box on the bulkhead as per the above link as I hadn't seen it when I was outside.
My current vacuum set up post-EGR removal I'm not convinced about, especially the loopback on the item that is noted as failing in the above link. Can you confirm that you have this looped back on itself?
Cheers
Paul
