Right i know they are too good on fuel from a start, but i see people everywhere getting like 200 - 250 miles to a tank, now its very rare if i get over 150, the past few weeks i fill the tank, 28 - 30 quid and by the time its on the half a tank mark its only done 79 miles this week :(

Thats driving round town, girlfriends and back occasional blast down the dual carriageway? Its a standard 1.6 with stainless system with no CAT, standard air filter.

Any reason why it does this? Its done it since ive had it and its really starting to annoy me now :(

I know its kind of irrelevant because ive got my 2.0 but i need this for another 2 months and while im out of work i can't afford to be putting 30 quid in it every 4 - 5 days :(

do u do alot ov cold starts n give it some from cold :lol:
coz i went through a patch where i was using alot ov fuel so now i worm up the car first and tis all good now,
and it doesnt help with the cat removed eather

Dunno, when i start it up it goes BING BING BING BING for about 2 minutes, then the revs drops and it STFU itself, don't rag it from cold tho. :?

so the auto choke cuts out and it drops to a proper idle of around 800rpm?

that sounds normal i'd say, i'd say anything of an m reg that cuts its auto choke from cold after 2-3 mins is quite good, at least it shows your thermostat is working etc..

try not driving everywhere in 2nd gear, make small adjustments to your speed on 60 limits, dont brake hard - having to reaccelerate is using more fuel, look further ahead and plan your driving better this allows you to slow up before you hit slow moving traffic - thus reducing need to brake.

dont drive above 3, 3.5k revs, just increase speed from the 30limit to the 60 steadily, afterall once your at 60 you only have to hold it there, whats the rush?

these things helped me get a good economy on the fiesta, but with all that in mind, if its still shit, i'd just blame the zetec engine (as a lot of focuses etc have the same problems).

I checked my trip meter today and I got 89 miles to £10's worth of Optimax, thats round town pretty much with the occasional rag...so mine seems to be pretty good compared to most? :) I know on the motorway I've had 110 miles to 1/4 tank and I think that was on el-cheapo Tesco juice.

38mpg round town
45mpg motorway @ steady 70mph

with 103,000 on the clock, all in all I'm pretty happy with that :D
