on my old engine my oil pump failed and i the top head started knocking the thing is i was wondering if the bottom block would still be ok

Block itself would be fine, shells and bearings would more then likely need replacing though. Dependant how bad it got, crank too maybe, but yes, it would be salvagable.

if the oil pump failed and its been run around normally, i think the bottom end would have some damage to it mate. what size zetec engine is it?

i have known a couple of 2.0 zetec engines to fail in other cars dunno why, my 2.0 decided to kill its big end bearings a few months back in my old escort lol.

best thing for you to do matey is get hold of another engine if you can't find another 2.0 try a 1.8 bit more reliable for the time being till you can find another 2.0 or maybe you could rebuild it.

if the damage is bad let me know matey i'm after another dead 2.0 zetec engine to rebuild for a project of mine!
