Anyways, I've done it. I got some copper grease and put a bit in the hole around the hidden lip. Put the balljoint up and then gently grinded where the grease was. Repeated until it fit. I didn't want to risk taking too much off, but it turned out to be a tiny tiny amount to come off.

So what happened with the car? OMG TWITCHY!!!! Bumps, slopes, funny looks from other drivers would make it swerve like crazy!! I've got negative camber, where the wheels tilt in at the top. DAMMIT! SO I've measured the size of the wishbones again, difficult without taking them off and confirmed they are exactly right and matching to the old ones.

How the hell have I got negative camber!?

Then I started doing the front shocks earlier today. I got one done. The bloody missus is a pain in the demanding do it now neck. Solved the twitch, can take the hands off the wheel now without pulling or jumping to a random direction. Still got negative camber.

Any mk3 is at least a 15yr old car, meaning that the chances are, theres gonna be alot of worn parts. bushes etc do wear out and can cause geometry problems!

i haven't read the complete thread so excuse me if I've missed anything, what car is it going on?, what ball joints do you have? as there is a few types, ie power steering, pre94, post 94,
i fitted 2 hubs from a scrap yard to my car to fit the later type suspension off the si, and some on the ball joints are a cone type so the top is 16mm and the bottom of the ball joint is 17.4mm as found on the late xr2i's with power steering and pumas

Done over three weeks ago!

One final tip: Hit it with a crow bar from directly underneath! LOL!
