The 'sports' suspension might as well not be there over some bumps it's that harsh. I get a fair bit of clicking and knocking sounds, not major but enough to highlight an issue. They're from the front wheels, usually with slight turning going slow enough to hear them without road noise drowning it out. Would this be the ball joints? Happens on both sides. Also sometimes going round corners and pushing it a little bit, the car seems to give the impression it wants to fold the outside cornering front wheel underneath the car. Related again? The car can also give a funny wobble at speed when it hits a funny lump or hole in the road, that wouldn't cause the problem at lower speeds.

I've checked the bushes all over the front end and they look pretty damn good, indicating at some point they have been changed so I can only rule them out. Of course I have done all the movement checks and they would pass an MOT with flying colours.

The rear shocks seems knackered though. It's absolute murder over Asda car park speed humps. So much so it's hard not to kangaroo the car like crazy as soon as the rear wheels get over.

The rear ARB hoops have broken on one side, but I've signed up to the group buy thread for these.

So my question comes down to:

I don't necessarily have to buy the full wishbone do I, the ball joint should be enough shouldn't it? Considering I have to search like crazy to make sure I get the right version.

The rear shocks, I'm not sure what to do about. I can't afford 'performance' parts, but even then eBay is a bit pricy. Suggestions? Scrapyard (to buy bits, not take the car...)

if its ball jopints that need replacing then its easier to just fit new wishbones, not that expensive either, i got both O/S and N/S for £30.

Well I know something is knackered at the back. Just had two people in the back of the car and even joins between tarmac bottomed out!

Better off getting full wishbones unless you want the fun of drilling out the 3 bits holding in the balljoints. Then you have to line them up perfectly or you will have mad camber on each side and will cause issues in handling! (Trust me!)

Get some new standard shocks for the rear.

Personally I would do the lot.

Brand new shocks for the mondeo cost me £35 a corner, plus a set of 40mm lowering springs £80 - all brand new

I would asume £20 a side on the rear shocks for a fiesta from a local motorfactors, and get a set of standard springs off ebay or again the motorfactors, or get some second hand lowerring springs for next to nothing

Yeah I've done the back now. Got front shocks and wishbones on the way. They've got the bit on the end and I've ordered a proper set of mounting bolts from ford themselves.

Spring compressors are a nightmare!

The ones that don't clamp, but just hook round the spring? These are the nightmare, so much movement, one fell off once, then again and it FLEW off. Then the hooks were too long and snagged on the shock, so had to start again. Really annoying!

I got a set of decent spring compressors off ebay for £5 used. Are awesome!

But if you want me to be honest, I have never used spring compressors when changing fiesta springs, lol
