The 'sports' suspension might as well not be there over some bumps it's that harsh. I get a fair bit of clicking and knocking sounds, not major but enough to highlight an issue. They're from the front wheels, usually with slight turning going slow enough to hear them without road noise drowning it out. Would this be the ball joints? Happens on both sides. Also sometimes going round corners and pushing it a little bit, the car seems to give the impression it wants to fold the outside cornering front wheel underneath the car. Related again? The car can also give a funny wobble at speed when it hits a funny lump or hole in the road, that wouldn't cause the problem at lower speeds.
I've checked the bushes all over the front end and they look pretty damn good, indicating at some point they have been changed so I can only rule them out. Of course I have done all the movement checks and they would pass an MOT with flying colours.
The rear shocks seems knackered though. It's absolute murder over Asda car park speed humps. So much so it's hard not to kangaroo the car like crazy as soon as the rear wheels get over.
The rear ARB hoops have broken on one side, but I've signed up to the group buy thread for these.
So my question comes down to:
I don't necessarily have to buy the full wishbone do I, the ball joint should be enough shouldn't it? Considering I have to search like crazy to make sure I get the right version.
The rear shocks, I'm not sure what to do about. I can't afford 'performance' parts, but even then eBay is a bit pricy. Suggestions? Scrapyard (to buy bits, not take the car...)
