right for a while now ive had a bit of a "clunk" in the steering when going left. after doing quite a bit of driving it gradually got worse and now it seems to sort of stick instead of going back straight if you catch my drift also makes some nasty creaky noises lol was thinking the ball joint? also heard something about uj?

any help would be appreciated

Yes get the Universal Joint checked.
I had an identical problem in my old 1.1. Wouldn't correct the steering after turning. Felt like I was turning a bus and not a fiesta. Lots of noise coming from it as it gradually seizes up.
quick fix £50 rebuild on it at a garage and that sorted it.

Sadly mine got written off shortly after that so can't say how long the rebuild lasts but the person who I gave it to tells me it is still going strong
I miss that car it had no rust at all and was almost 18

Poor Orange Si is hurt. Started first time after sitting for 3 weeks and with virtually no petrol in it

could be ball joint also i had to do the top mounts were bad and the stud mount bearing too will need spring compressor tool i got mine for 15 pounds from screw fix

The problem also you need to do both sides as well

my vans ball joint is gone and that is creakin like fook
