 Post subject: mk5 3rd brake light

Just fitted to my 5dr, tapped into the wires that plug into the right hand light cluster, earthed using the brown wire but im not sure which of the 2 red/black striped wires is the correct one for the brake light, they both go into the same pin so im sure either is fine as ive tested them and both wires work and make it light up.
Does anyone know which is the actual wire for the brake light though??

Oh shiii, i had the same problem when i did mine. I looked at the haynes manual because it has the wiring diagram.
I would look at the wiring now, but it's all taped up and tucked neatly away
If i remember correctly, the red wire is for the rear light, and the red/brown is for the brake, but there is 2 because it loops to the other side.
I'm not too sure though so check the haynes mate

both on mine are red and black striped, lol ..its works so i think i'll just leave it like that and just watch out for any future issues!!

When i did it i had the sun in my eyes lol and it was the akward winter type of sun :P

ive still not finished spraying my rs spoiler, it decided to piss it down on my days off so i only got it half done, hopefully get it on this weekend though!!
