ive noticed on some MK3 fiesta threads people state "EGR removed" what is this egr thing ??

is this like a speed senser/ressistor in 1st,2nd gear ??

No, its a crappy system installed on cars to help with emissions etc and generally doesn't do well and gets in the way and is "another thing to go wrong" hence why people simply remove the box and pipes from the manifold and go to ford and buy 4 blanking plugs

You'll see it on a zetec manifold like injector shaped metal prongs that protrude from the manifold and run down to a box near the lower part of the engine

So to answer your question it doesn't do much, is built onto the exhaust manifold and is to do with controlling/improving emmisions etc

Its not important and wont effect the running of the car as long as it is all Completely removed

so will it make it faster !!! lol

also if i just buy a 4-2-1 fani_mold would that remove the egr thing ??

I took it off my old Si simply because it did nothing for the car and if it goes wrong then it can screw things up

The memory aint too good, a 4-2-1 would remove the need to plug a standard one i cant remember if the box part of the unit is attached to the engine and wired in if im honest you would have to look

you have to take the whole unit off, which if i remember is not a hard job

Dont think it 'helps' performance but its not much use and doesn't do much for looks so i'd rip it off

So what does it look like sorry for sounding stupid ??

take off the heatsheild on manifold and you will see 4 pipes, they go into a box, and then a rubber pipe comes out and goes into a valve

thats the egr system

You wont really gain anything from removing it, probably doesn't work anyway, just the fact it makes your engine bay look alot neater.
