If I threw a 1.6zetec box on my 1.8 you reckon that 1at gear would pull like yours but then when I get to 70-80mph I'll have more grunt to pull the gear through the revs

that brings another question, is the 1.6 si box different ratios to the xr2i 1.8? i know the xr2i is the same as the rs1800 box.

My gearbox is up for renewel lol as she's depositing her self everywhere I go lol

And the only thing I hate about my at is how long the gears are lol

So if someone can be sure a 1.6zetec box will fit on my xr2i 1.8 engine I'll have a go and see what the difference is !

if the gears are that long..has someone put a derv box in it at some point in the past...the top end on those is rediculous

It just feels gutless in 1st gear and there ggears just go on and on forever

I'm putting this in comparison with my old 1.7 mk4 fiesta that was like this before I cut the speed senser thing on the gearbox lol

I think what you lot are missing is its the actua diff ratio not the gear ratios, they are near enough all the same apart from diff ratios in them, we are on the 3rd gearbox in my sis xr2i, and the box we got in it now makes it accleralate quicker then all the other ones we had but that is cause it has a higher diff ratio

This drives me nuts, being able to go crazy in second and never use 3rd. I long for a 6 speed box with better ratios.
