Ok, my radio is locked out. I bought the car like that.

The car is a 2001 Fiesta Freestyle.

I have removed the unit and there was a code written on top of the radio. I am presuming this is the correct code. Maybe it is not and that is where I am going wrong.

But, presuming it IS the right code, what i want to know is... what is the correct method for entering this code?

I can input the 4 digits, but what then? Do I have to press another particular button? Have tried any button but it locked out when i pressed the number 5 key and no other buttons seemed to do anything. Have to wait 30 mins between attempts

If all else fails I guess I will just go visit my local Ford garage, but I would rather get it sorted myself, with the help of you lot of course

it could be the wrong code which is why its locking out as it sounds like your entering it correctly .

how many times have you attempted it mate?

a ford dealer will charge you aroung £25 to £30 just for the code

if you still need the code on monday give me a pm as ill be at work then and could give you the correct digits.

I have attempted it 3 times I think. Now there is a '4' displayed. I think that is what the '4' means, 4th attempt that is.

When you remove the radio is there a number starting with m followed by 6 digits? If not then I'll need the serial number aswell as the part number. If it's a transit I'm guessing it's the "m" number

You would need ford radio pins mate. Or sometimes people use the hook end of metal coat hangers but I've personally never tried that.

Loumiester, I managed to get my radio out with a set of DIY pins.

Basically they were U shaped metal rods, about 2 or 3mm in diameter. Someone at work gave them to me. Released the radio ok-ish. Bit of a struggle but she came out in the end. They did get stuck in the mechanism though and I had to use a screwdriver to release them.

I know on the old ford single din stereos, if it was a 4 digit code you used to press each number in accordance to the code and then press 6

For example: if the code is 2514
You will press on the radio- 11,22222,3,4444,6
Or 7578 - 1111111,22222,3333333,44444444,6
Etc.

I don't know if it is the same for the more modern ones.. Give it a go.

There used to be lots of code generator things around to get these, I have had to use them too many times after disconnecting batterys and then not being able to find the codes.

If u post up the seriel number, starts with an m and followed by 6 digits, i can get the code from work for free if u still need it
