ive got a mk3 base spec and put a xr2i full kit on and just fitted the fogs but theres like a multiplug connector on there but obviously i dont have the corresponding side due to it not being a xr2i so how would i wire them in?

yeah its pretty long winded thought there is a easier way my next door neighbour said he would do it he used to be a autoleccy he said its just a simple relay jobbie

i think the key thing is to find a live wire to use.

on the plug it will have 4 wires,
the black and yellow wire is for the fog lights, brown is earth and the other two are for the high beam lights.

to wire in the fog lights you will need
a relay,
a fuse holder,
a switch,
reels of wire

To wire the fog lights you will need to run a wire from the battery to the fuse holder, from the fuse holder to pin 87 on the relay
Run a wire from pin 30 to the foglights

from pin 85 on the relay will need to go to an earth i.e. battery
you will need to run a wire to pin 86 on the relay from a fog light switch

To wire in the original switch you wil need to find a local light supply wire behind the dash (Grey/yellow)[This can be used for switch illumination and fog supply switching]
An earth (brown), to make the switch light up you wil need a supply from the fog lights main live to one of the pins on the switch. I can't remember which wire does what of the top of my head.

------------------------------ To wire the main beam lamps is the same as wiring fogs but the only differance is you need to take the switching wire from the main feed to the headlights, any problems pm for more details
