Ive got a humming noise coming from the nearside rear wheel.. When I turn left it stops, other than that its constantly humming, louder as speed gets more..

Any Ideas?

Anyone got a guide for changing the rear bearings as my Si has started doing this too and it is noisy as fook!

Think my brakes are binding a bit on that wheel too just to make sure it's uber-noisey!!

You need a huge torque wrench too, and it should say in the Haynes manual what amount you need.

Yes I do, but its on my work computer so I couldnt look at it last night!
Also, I would never call a Haynes manual a guide, more of a rough look at what to do... there is always something that they miss as they do it on a brand new car.

Just had a look and 250-290 Nm... are thay having a laugh??? Crikey, not sure what my Torque wrench goes to but might have to borrow one from work for that... sheesh!!

Looks fairly straight forward in the Haynes manual (Doesn't everything?) anyone got any pearls of wisdom or is it really that easy?

One quick question!!

What size is the hub retaining nut? I've seen 32mm and 34mm quoted on various forums.

Can someone say definatly that it is one of those two or what it is as I am planning on doing this tonight!

i think it is a 32mm cause the front is definatley 32mm

Mmmm... 34mm seems to be an odd size that we don't have at work.

If anyone can catagorically confirm that the rear hub nut is 32mm that'd be great!!
Its certainly looking that way but just want to be doubly sure before I go and start the job.

Well, it would appear that it is a 30mm nut on the rear hubs.

Did it all last night and was fairly easy!

Only problem now is I can hear all the other noises the car is making!! D'Oh!
