my brakes on my fiesta seem to be shockingly bad! i have recently had new shoes put on and dont think it needs new front pads. is it a case of just bleeding my brakes or is there other things that could help? dont really trust the mechanic who put the shoes on either.

Fiesta brakes are bad anyway to be honest lol. Either get new pads and disks - like mintex fast road or something.

Or get new brake fluid which will help. It will only need bleeding if they are spongey. But it needs to be re-newed every 3 years anyway.

Funny that, my Si brakes were superb! Standard aswell...

I replaced the rear cylinders in the drums, new shoes, new front pads, new front discs, new calipers, and a good bleed of the whole system, and they were fantastic AFTER I bedded them in!

Did you bed your brakes in? If you haven't you may very well have glazed them up.

Also, you don't mention in what way they're bad? Are they spongy? If so that would imply they need bleeding. Had a look in your engine bay for any oddities on the brake servo? That may be shot. More details needed!

yer they are a bit spongey just generally bad but i think it definately needs bleeding and new brake fluid

If it's all done right then the standard Si brakes are fine for the car. Like I say, mine were absolutely spot on as I kept on top of them and replaced near enough everything over time. Spongey pedal feel sounds like there's air in the system.

If I was you, bleed the lot and start over with fresh fluid. Will take it's time as it's fiddly so might be worth your while buying one of those one man bleeding kits to help you along the way.

gunsons eezi bleed kits are silly simple to use and at 15 quid alot less hassle than getting someone to pump the pedal! go furthest to nearest on the nipples. i.e drivers side rear. pass side rear. drivers side front. pass side front. make sure the fluid comes out clean and bubble free. rear shoes take a bit more bedding in time than front pads as they do less work. but shouldnt be that bad. no more than a couple of weeks max at a guess. i cant remember the last time i did them. but i do remember them being a bit pony till they bedded in. but the pedal wasnt rubbish.
