mines fine it doesnt run hot like its boiling in the headertank but it does run warm when its been driven obviously, i have cleaned out the system 2 or 3 times though cause of a leak i couldnt find!

i spose thats my my car stinks of coolant when the heater blower is on max temp / speed

Yeah run very hot, mine usually sits at the R on the NORM. Cam cover is usually very very hot.

Think I'm going to change coolant in a few weeks. Don't like it looking dirty.

ive just had to drain all my coolant out my engine today cause im putting the 2.0 in im well gutted cause it was really really clean! its only been in a couple of months and before i put the fresh in i cleaned oi out with water following the haynes maunal, i ran the radiator back to front to wash out all the grit and now im gonna have to do it again cause the engines new!

I've just got back from driving to Cardiff from Epsom, Surrey. Then coming back via Somerset.

All without a temp gauge

I had the fan on constantly, the heater on hot (without the fan blowing) just to disperse the heat. I had my window open and sunroof so that i wouldnt be cooked to death.

The Si did really well considering the heat trouble i was worried about. I had a stop half way there and back just to keep an eye on things.

I'm being too risky with the temporary precautions i'm using at the mo. so i'm going to fix me problems this week hopefully.

I'm planning to replace the fan switch and the switch on top of the thermostat, which i beleive to be the temp. gauge sender (correct me if im wrong please )

I'll let you know what happens. Keep on posting the information, comes in very useful.

The Si is fixed!!

I bought a new temperature gauge sender from Ford for ?15

I tested the electrical side of the sender first, by shorting the terminals, and found that the gauge went up to the top so the wiring was good thankfully.

So i replaced both the temp. gauge sender and fan switch to be on the safe side.

I was so happy when i saw the guage gradually climb up to normal when i fired her up.

Fingures crossed that's everything working for the Si now and my mind is at rest.

BTW the temp. gauge sender is not on top of the thermostat but it comes out the bottom-front of it instead.

mine does it all the time mate.. always finding new leeks lol but only pipes not to bad to get sorted
