Having trouble removing the EFI upper inlet manifold, 2 of the lower 10mm bolt heads have rounded off and i need to remove it have it polished. Any ideas on how to get them out :?

not enough room for all of that. wonder if it would be any easier trying to do it from underneath, as iam currently trying to get my arms under the inlet manifold from the top to do it :?

its a bit of a pig to get off. so far ive found that moving the header tank out the way and the std airbox gubbins you can get your arm around to the bottom ones. depends how rounded the bolts are. youll either want a good 6 sided 10mm socket or a set of rounded bolt removers. theyre twisted/fluted sockets. ive found them to be quite good so far. harder you turn the harder it grips. hope that helps

rounded bolt removers sounds handy....never heard of them. almost every job i do you can guarantee one of the nuts will round off. Yes thought about moving the headertank as its kinda in the way for the rest of my arm to fit through to get a good grip on the ratchet to undo the lower bolts. Wonder if Halfords do them rounded bolt remover things ?

do i have to take all the injectors and the rail it sits on out before i can remove the inlet ?
also is there any difference between the RS1800 and the Mondeo 2.0 EFI inlet manifold as i might just get another one and get it polished then just switch it over with mine along with all the water hoses etc. Mines the 1.6 with the inlet bored out to 2.0 spec.

think you need a new spanner/socket set if you keep rounding nuts.
you need to take injectors out IIRC
prob easiest to do the bottom ones from under the car, reach up behind cat cradle and you'll get to them.

I find that if U use an old imperial socket that is a shade smaller than the bolts/nut your trying to remove and tap the socket onto the rounded bolt and slowly losen the bolt/nut. Remember to apply a good dose of WD40 before hand. :thumbsup:

tbh i think there were already rounded off a little anyway but instead of being replaced they been put back on. the ones i managed to get out ive replaced with new ones. I have got a full socket and spanner set, as JD said i did wonder if it ould be easier from underneath. Funny thing when i broke my old Si last year, it came out easy.
