is a 1.4si steering rack the same as a 1.6 2i rack????? my 2i's rack is nackered and been short of funds i dont want to buy a new 1 when i can get 1 from a 1.4si (getting 1 to strip shortly)

yep sure, i know the car as it used to be mine. i sold it a couple of years ago for £300 am getting it back for £250 with a 2.0 fitted and veriouse other nice bits its basicly a shed now tho so stripping it of anything usesfull.
it defo hasnt got powersteering they defo all came with it as standard then?

if its a 1.6 xr2i the steering rack is dogshit. about 100 turns lock to lock. buy a later non power steering one they have less turns lock to lock and fit a treat. thats what i have in my '2i. dapper.

my 2i is lowered 40mm and has 16's on so i dont get much lock to lock anyway
i got a quote for a new rack there only £45 i was thinking they were going to be stupidly expensive
i got the 1.4si today it has powersteering, it must have been crap because i honestly thort it didnt have any when i last drove it in 05 before we sold it
