So... i'm sh***ing myself! i'm pretty sure i'm gonna fail on a number of things but thought i'd check on a couple of obvious ones.
anyway - I've stripped out my rear seats and belts etc, do i need them? also any ideas where i can get a cat from?

as far as i know if you dont have rear seat belts or seats in then they wont test them, meaning you dont need them but i'm not 100% sure so dont quote me on that

at a guess try ebay, FSi(here)/FT/scrap yard for cat's

Having no seats will get you an advisory, but no need to worry about it.

To be honest, as long as there are no seat belts, or any of the seat brackets they cant say a thing about having no seats in the back.

As with the CAT's I doubt you'll find one as most people weight them in for precious metals as they contain some nice things

Make sure all your lights are working correctly, make sure your wipers are good, make sure you have water in the washer jets, check tyres, brakes, exhaust not blowing etc
all simple things which I wish people would check beforehand instead of getting a fail list an arms length long due to a bulb or no water in wipers

cheers guys. what about the fact that its a 2 litre? its still a 1.6 on log book but i assume they dont test this?

if you've not changed your log book then they'll test it as a 1.6( well i presume they will as they wouldn't know other wise) just send your log book off it takes a few mins to fill out and a few weeks to get back to you, easy peasy

The only problem you have with it being registered as a 1.6 instead of 2.0ltr, if the MOT people are tight buggers and your emmisions of the 2.0ltr are higher than the allowed limit for the 1.6 (as it is that on the logbook) - then they might fail that part of the test.

But they would have to be tight
